Disable Outlook Simplified Account Creation

For the last few versions of Microsoft Outlook adding an account makes use of the simplified account creation dialog. In order to add certain types of accounts, (non outlook of gmail) you need to disable this feature. Here are the simple steps. It does require the use of the Registry.

• Start the Registry Editor
• Navigate to the following key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\setup
• Add a new DWORD (32-bit) Value
• Name the new key DisableOffice365SimplifiedAccountCreation
• Set it’s value to 1 and click OK
• It may require a reboot.

After following the above steps you will be presented with a dialog with options to set advanced configurations when setting up an email address.

To enable Simple Account Creation simply change the value of the newly added key to 0.
